Execution and slippage: why entry zones exist

A signal with two entry zones is telling you not to market-buy the alert. The first zone is the price where the setup is valid; the second is the deeper retest where risk-reward is better. Splitting the position across both means a shallow pullback still fills you, and a deeper wick improves your average instead of stopping you out.

Both exchanges support this identically in mechanics: place two resting limit orders, attach the same stop-loss price to each, and set take-profits as reduce-only orders at the published targets. The practical difference is depth. On BTC or ETH perps neither venue will slip a normal retail order meaningfully. On a thin mid-cap perp, a market entry can cost more in slippage than a month of fee difference — which is the whole argument for resting limits rather than chasing the alert.

What a month of signal following actually costs

Worked example: a 2,000 USDT account, 3% margin per trade at 20x, so roughly 1,200 USDT notional per position. Twenty signals a month, each opened and closed, is about 48,000 USDT of round-trip volume.

  • All taker. Roughly 14 USDT/month on Bybit (0.030%) versus roughly 19 USDT on Binance (0.040%) before any token discount.
  • Limit entries, taker exits. Roughly 11 USDT versus 14 USDT — the entry style saves more than the venue choice does.
  • Slippage. A single 0.3% slip on one thin altcoin entry is about 4 USDT, wiping out a third of the monthly fee gap in one trade.

The conclusion is unglamorous: at retail size, how you enter matters more than where. Pick the venue that lists the pairs your signals fire on, then stop paying taker fees on entries.
